LETS TALK ABOUT VLOGS

this weekend i came to the realization that even though i do get dressed everyday, i don't always look like i did & i'm blaming this on my makeup (or lack there of) & the fact that i haven't styled my hair since coming to madrid (for some awful reason i didn't bring a straightener or curling iron, so may hair is completely in control of itself..at least it's going to be healthy).

i see all these women on the street who looks so put together, effortless & pretty. then i come home & see all of you lovely bloggers who look so beautiful & great in all of your pictures & i realized that a lot of these ladies are doing things i'm not.... hair & makeup. i'm in no way au-natural. like a lot of other girls i cover my acne, i wear blush so i don't look too white & i have an obsession with mascara. to me, that's a full face of makeup. but i did attempt some of the looks with the makeup i have..
right: no makeup whatsover, left: my attempt at a toned down version of one of the makeup tutorials i watched
my hair is another story. ever since i chopped it off last february (sometimes i can't believe how much my hair has grown & then i look at these pictures & feel like it hasn't grown very much at all...how disappointing) i've gone through extreme phases of doing absolutely nothing to it, in the hopes of it growing faster, & curling or straightening it a couple times a week. right before we moved i was in a phase of curling it about once a week & letting the curls play out as long as i could, but since i didn't bring any heat tools i am the girl that rolls out of bed & lets her hair be. sadly i don't have that just-outta-bed amazing hair (i honestly thought people were blessed with it, but from this weekend i learned that 98% of those girls with that perfect hair did not wake up that way... they styled it. i'm an idiot), but i rock my version anyways. & my version is generally a variation of letting it be, putting it in a top know, half up/half down or a braid of sorts. no heat, no product (i never thought to use product before either, & now i'm convinced i need product) & pretty much no brush. so i shouldn't be surprised by my hair in some pictures, but every once in a while i still am.

i decided to google hair & makeup tips this weekend & i got sucked into the vlogger wormhole. i spent far too much time watching vloggers achieve their perfect makeup & perfect hair & at the end of it all i was in awe/shock but think i learned a thing or two. why i hadn't thought of watching these before, i have no clue. it could be the fact that i feel highly uncomfortable watching other people, but after a few different vloggers i found a few that i actually like. they're cute, they're funny, they have great tips & they are really interesting to me.

besides the fact that they're amazing at hair & makeup, or that they wear that much makeup, or that they own that much makeup (all of which blow my mind!), they're completely themselves. i've always thought blogging to be a highly personal thing, but vlogging is on another level! you're watching this person, listening to them. you see their quirks, they aren't (for the most part) editing & re-editing like we can do on blogs. they are just there & it's amazing to me! i for one really do not like my voice so i clearly could never be a vlogger, plus i am the most awkward human so vlogging would just really heighten that attribute i think, but what about you? could you ever vlog? or have you ever? do you watch vlogs? what are your feelings on them! i'm so curious. this is an entirely new world that i've never really payed any attention to & now i'm so interested!

also, any of you ladies have beauty products & tips you love that i should be trying? after this weekend i'm really into makeup & hair products, trying to decide if i should get some new supplies & what items i totally need or which ones don't really matter. all advice would be much appreciated!

oh! & these are the vloggers i watched this weekend:
zoella- i literally typed in makeup vlogger & she popped up. she's cute, has really good makeup looks, is entertaining & has a really great british accents which is just fun to hear.
essie button- i just think she's really adorable & i was interested in her product reviews
lauren curtis- i liked her natural looking makeup video
nicole guerriero- i looked up vloggers with short hair to see how to style mine & her big textured bead head video popped up & after that i started watching more of her videos because entertained me & i was amazed at the difference her makeup made.... (i don't know if that's rude or not, but i didn't mean it to be!)

  1. I love watching Zoella! I recently discovered her as well. I also like watching Tanya Burr. They've been inspiring me to add video content of my own to the blog, but vlogging is definitely on a whole new level. Thanks for sharing! xoxo

  2. You are beautiful! In all the pictures I see of you I think your hair looks great. Back when I had long hair my hair was awful, I really couldn't NOT heat-style it. As far as makeup, I just recently started learning about good makeup stuff. I think blogs are so fun but I've tried making ones of me talking and it bothers me to watch myself! I notice all these stupid little things that no one else probably would. I think it seems fun though.

  3. Nicole helped me after chopping my hair off, too. In my head it was going to be less fuss to have short locks. But no. It's ten times trickier to tame. Missglamorazzi also cut her hair recently & can be good to look at for style ideas!

  4. i think you are a model in all your pics, so i don't even KNOW what you are going on about. but makeup and hair vlogs are totally a thing that i love, except i usually just look them up on youtube...on sunday mornings..when i'm lacking makeup/hair inspiration for church. it's deep, dark, wonderful black hole from which you'll never escape...and that's okay. :)
