baby shower{s}

saturday was a little busy. my family gave me a baby shower at noon
& my friends gave me a baby shower at 4, so it was a good busy.
they were both adorable & everyone gave us such awesome gifts.
they are all too nice to me. & really spoiled this baby. he's got the cutest
clothes to wear. i'm so lucky to have people who care about us so much!
my family shower had a travel theme & my friend shower had a wild things theme.
sadly, i forgot my camera at my first shower, but i made sure to have it
at the next, so i was able to get a few pictures.
thank you thank you thank you to everyone that came & helped out!

1 fish, 2 fish, 3 fish...

here's a little fact about austin:
he  loves to fly fish. (he's the tiny one holding the fly rod)
i think it's safe to say he goes at least twice a week.
at least, lately he does... although if you ask him he only goes once a month
i didn't fully realize his love for fishing until after we were married.
but i think it's pretty cute that he's so obsessed over it.
i'm pretty sure he looks at fishing blogs & websites just as much as i look at my blogs & websites, which is quite a bit.
he's always coming up with new things to try & to do & places to go
& he also loves to tie his own flies which is pretty impressive if you ask me.
some of them are so tiny & intricate... i have no idea how he does it.
i like to call his tying time, craft time but i don't think he my name for it.
this boy gets so excited whenever he goes fishing
i've gone out & watched him cast a couple times, when he's trying out new things
& i've tried casting a few times & it's sort of fun.
i think i'm going to give learning how to fly fish a shot over the summer
i really just want to see what it is that he loves so much about it.
you can tell just how much he loves it from his pictures.

34 WEEKS & going

we are in the home stretch: 6 more weeks before this little one is here.
i cannot wait.
it's gone by SO fast, it blows my mind.
i can't wait for him to make his debut & meet everyone!
he's been going crazy in my belly lately,
so i think he's getting antsy too.

leggings: madewell// sweater: gap// top: gap maternity

SWIMSUIT SEASON

i love swimming suits.
they're just one of those things that i really truly love.
as soon as we're slightly close to summer or spring i can't help but look at them
& pick out some favorites that i would love to have.
which is exactly what i've been doing the last couple of weeks...
even though i currently wouldn't fit into any of them.
but i figure i should start looking cause i'll need one right when this baby is born.

real beauty sketches

i think this video is pretty cool & has a good message for all of us ladies:
focus on the good, and not the bad with ourselves.
we're always trying to fix things, but we can't let them take over our thoughts.
i often think "if i just could just change that..." or "if i get really skinny then..." which i'm sure everyone does, but sometimes it makes us lose sight of all the good things about ourselves & our body, & thats what i think this video is trying to say.
sooooo check it out!

over the weekend

i...visited with my cousin whitney while
admiring all things at paper source & anthropologie.
worked on papers & took a test.
went to the bijou market with cousins marta, whitney & abby,
& i picked up some some paper from the splot shop while i was there.
afterwards we went to sammy's for shakes.
tried a new restaurant: the blue poblano
& it was delicious.
our friends came over for some good old fashioned fun:
music, talking, & games.
we went to church & had family dinner at my in-law's.
watched the royal tenenbaums for my humanities paper.
did a little more homework,
wrote a lot in my journal & did some doodling.
practiced my candle making a little more
so that i can start selling them!
what did you do?
one of my favorite songs, just for good measure

liebster award!

i have been nominated for the libester award! i honestly had no clue there was such a thing when shayla told me she nominated me, but i still felt pretty special to be nominated! so thank you thank you shayla & check out her blog! here are the rules:
1. post 11 things about yourself
2. answer the 11 questions created by the person who nominated you
3. create 11 questions of your own to ask the bloggers to nominate
4. choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers to nominate and link them on your blog post
5. bloggers must be notified of their award!
6. no tag backs!

1. i am addicted to painting my nails. they probably get painted at least twice a week.
2. i have always had a love for boxes & packaging. if anyone got anything in what i thought was a great box i would keep it. my childhood bedroom has a lot of boxes under my bed.. in my closet.. on shelves.. & i still have a weakness for really great packaging.
3. i'm a big into journals. i don't write long entries or all the time, but will put random thoughts down, pictures, things i like from magazines.. anything that i'm into at that present time. i have a huge collection of all my journals from the past years.
4. i would love to have a mini horse. it's a dream of mine.
5. i have a super teeny tiny mouth, which sometimes makes it difficult to eat sandwiches or burgers.
6. i have this thing where just knowing i'm within 30 minutes of the beach calms my nerves.
7. milk has always been my beverage of choice. but i won't drink it from someone else's house unless i know them really well.
8. sometimes i really like to make awkward situations. i'm not sure why, but i do. i've toned it down over the last couple years though.
9. i laugh at everything, especially if i'm nervous or uncomfortable. i also turn a lovely shade of bright red when i'm nervous, uncomfortable, or talking in a large group of people.
10. i can't go to sleep without putting aquaphor on my lips & get panicky when i realize i've left the house without chapstick of some sort.
11. i will do anything for a good picture. seriously.
1. what was the first record/tape/cd you owned?
if i remember correctly, i'm pretty sure a mix tape my oldest brother willie made for me. it had all the great songs from the 90's like the beastie boys, will smith, kansas & a ton of other great jams. i was thrilled when he gave it to me, i think i was about 8 or 9 & i thought it was the coolest thing on earth

2. if you could go to dinner with anybody alive today (that you don't know), who would it be?
this is such a hard question... i know who i would pick if they didn't have to be alive. but alive is a tough one. i would probably pick gwen stefani because i've got a huge girl crush on her & have a pretty big love for no doubt.
3. when you're asked to introduce yourself to a new group of people and are supposed to tell one thing about yourself, what do you say?
i always get caught off guard when i have to answer that question. i mean, i feel like i have nothing terribly exciting to say, but lately i say that i bungee jumped off the bridge over the zambezi river in africa. it was honestly the worst, most terrifying experience of my life..
4. what's your favorite form of social media: blogging, instagram, facebook, or twitter? why?
i'd probably have to go with instagram... with blogging a close runner up. i really just love looking at pictures and seeing what people have been up to in their lives. plus it's super convenient & easy to use. i can check it super easily, & post easily. i'm all about the easiness of things. &&& i love blogging because  i get to see a ton of pictures people take & even read a bit about it & get to know them. it's just harder for me to keep on top of, but i try!
5. if you could only shop at one clothing store/website for the rest of your life what would it be?
i would probably have to pick nordstrom because i'd be able to dress myself for the rest of my life! originally i was going to say free people... but i can't really be a 60 year old in their clothes, at least i don't think i can. annnnyways, nordstrom has pretty much all the clothes that i love, including a lot of free people clothes, great shoes, jewelry, makeup & purses, they've got it all!
6. what was your favorite childhood movie?
favorite childhood movie was/still is beauty & the beast. i've always loved it & i still like to break it out & watch every once in a while. i'm honestly a child at heart.
7. what is the weirdest nickname that you've ever been called?
i've had a ton of nicknames growing up.. kerbear, junebug, toot, baby.... & a lot more. but the weirdest/my least favorite that i've ever heard is harry mullet. kerry mullin = harry mullet. pretty clever & a bummer, right? i first was called it in elementary school by a boy named jeremy. lucky for me, we went to different middle schools & i thought i'd never hear it again... buuuut as life would have it, freshman year of highschool, i walked into my first class of the day & the first thing i heard was "harry mullet" from the back of the class room. he switched to my highschool. lucky me
8. what is the best meal you've ever had?
i've had a lot of delicious meals, & i can't even imagine which was my favorite, there are way too many to pick from. so instead i'll just go with what my favorite thing to eat is, cause it's a bit easier for me. my absolute favorite are thinness, which are known to the rest of the world as crepes. thinnies are the name my family has given to them, & they're the breakfast we grew up having on the weekends & for special occasions like birthdays & holidays. all we put on them is butter & sugar, but i also looove nutella on them with bananas too!
9. what is your favorite school subject and why?
i have two: art & english. my passion is drawing & painting, i love it & always have. whether its just doodling or a full blown project i love it & i love that there is a class devoted to just drawing & painting & making stuff. it's my favorite, & it's what i spent the majority of my college career taking, until i switched my major. & i love english because i'm a closet nerd & i love reading & weirdly like writing papers. i would totally choose to write a paper over ever taking a test if i could.
10. if you could live in any country right now, where would it be?
picking one country is hard. but i think i've narrowed down my list to italy or switzerland. switzerland because its absolutely gorgeous, has a ton of stuff to do, & is super outdoorsy which i love. italy because of the super laid back lifestyle, go with the flow ease, delicious gelato on every street corner, it's beautiful & there's a beach.. which is a pretty big deal for me.
11. johnny depp or brad pitt? from the 90's of course.
this is the hardest question of them all for sure. but i'm gonna go with brad pitt. i mean, meet joe black, a river runs through it, legends of a fall... he is a baaaabe in all of those. but present day: johnny depp. brads gone a little down hill with all those kids & it makes me sad.

what your filter says about you

the other day i was looking at one of my favorite sites, apartment therapy, & came across this infographic. apparently the filters people choose to use on instagram actually says something about that person. i would have never thought this, so i found the infographic pretty interesting to look at. they broke it down by the most popular filters & wrote clever comments about each of them which are pretty funny. the graphic made me interested in what filters i use the most, so i went through some of my latest instagrams & checked out what my top filters are & apparently i don't pick a lot of popular filters.. i mainly use walden or sutro, but my 3rd runner up is x-pro II, & 4th is nashville, which did make the list. so it was fun to read what they had to say about that filter! what filters do you use?
What-Your-Instagram-Filter-Says-About-You

bayonne & san sebastian

on our way to biarritz from bordeaux, we stopped in bayonne. bayonne is a pretty old, small town that is also part of basque country. we stopped to get some lunch & to try their famous chocolate (apparently every town in france is famous for their chocolate). they're especially famous for their hot chocolate, so we obviously had to try it. we went to the "original" hot chocolate shop that opened close to 500 years ago! it was the most chocolatey, rich & delicious hot chocolate i've ever had. it was seriously so good.
during our stay in biarritz we took a day to cross into spain & check out san sebastian. i loved  going because i went 4 years back on a trip with some of my friends, so i loved being able to go back! unfortunately the weather was pretty cold & a little rainy... like most of the trip.... but we still really liked it. it's an awesome little spanish beach town that is super laid back. it's so much fun to visit & i would definitely go back for a 3rd trip.
